clockwork thief II by ariscene clockwork thief II by ariscene
"No one knows where they originally came from...Their glowing heads make the city look eerily festive every time they roam the rooftops. They are thieves. They crave all things shiny and intricate, from brooches and coins to pens and lighters. They don't speak, but they seem to understand human languages -mostly curses-. I always thought they steal stuff to make more of their kind, you know. Under the city, where they sleep during the day.."

I may have seen this somewhere else, so I don't claim any originality...but umbrellas look like spiders :)
So, I disemboweled an old umbrella, a '90s tv set and a cassette recorder. Oh, I also "borrowed" a lightbulb from the garage..!

This one is quite different from my usual work, since I didn't use paint. It's real junk glued together, and I hoped I could express myself through the materials themselves, and their true appearance.

I love the concept, and the finished thing is really awesome, too! I would be afraid to challenge this thing, personally. It looks like it can move pretty fast, and would I get electrocuted? I love how it looks more modern. Keep it up!

Thank you!
Nah, it's quite the coward.
It'd run out of your window, climb some lamp post and disappear into the night :)

I totally knew the legs were umbrella spokes before I read the description! Nifty sculpture! I dig it.

Actually I don't think it is that obvious... but I was examining how umbrellas work one day and I was fascinated by the spokes... They're just so high-tech looking! *is a dork*

It's true, they are! I was thinking the same:
Such amazing mechanical parts in a 3$ umbrella...
I had to use them for something :D

Now I kind of want to try something with them - I'm such an idea stealer....
I really like it though, it's very creepy... like robotic bugs, eek!
