"When we realized that the crawling invertebrates in Io's deeper mud pits had an iron-based internal support system, a kind of iron-oxide space lattice, our biochemists went amuck. The need for expensive ceramic and titanium-alloy based prosthetics would be over...

...since these organism's immune system was tolerant to iron and steel. The business potential was huge. Thus, in 2093 the first series of hybrid-agents (as we called them) appeared in the markets. With a fully functional biological nervous system and digestive track, motorized mechanical parts plus double-shell high-density silica foam carapace, we had ourselves the perfect soldier. Or so we thought...."

Small story I conjured up, after making the critter. It's supposed to be a living creature bound to a mechanical contraption, in order to be used a fearless/resilient/obedient soldier. Its supposed size is more or less like a cat. The size of the real-world sculpture is closer to that of a rat :P

I used water based acrylics to paint it and -as usual- it's made out of junk.

I was joking - pretty much - but your creatures are very cool and sexy, and in a perfect world, I would love to see them chasing my models around!

Hah, glad you were. I seriously get people asking me "does it move" "is it really a cyborg", so you never know, d'oh.
I'm no robotics prodigy, and my attic is no lab unfortunately :D

Thanks for the kind words!

Speaking of robotics prodigies, I wish I could find this in higher-rez on the internet; it is on the dvd THE WORK OF DIRECTOR CHRIS CUNNINGHAM:

The video director, Chris Cunningham, is also the robot-builder. He worked as a designer for the film A.I.; he is a freaking genius.
